FDOT District One Adopted Five-Year Work Program
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, began developing the Adoptive Five-Year Work Program for fiscal years 2017 through 2021 in the spring. FDOT staff coordinated with modal partners including metropolitan planning organizations, rural county commissions, regional entities and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. Each year, the planning organizations, county commissions and regional entities provide their transportation priorities to the district for consideration during development of the work program. Early development of priorities and partnering with these groups stabilizes the department’s work program. Our goal is to maintain Florida’s transportation system at levels our residents, businesses and visitors are accustomed to and expect.
The new Adoptive Five Year Work Program includes an update of the common four years of the adopted work program, fiscal years 2017 through 2020, plus the scheduling of projects for a new fifth year, fiscal year 2021. The work program includes highway, bridge, aviation, seaport, rail, transit, and trail and sidewalk projects. The work program update concludes with approval by Florida’s legislature each spring and adoption of the work program by the secretary of transportation prior to the new fiscal year, which begins July 1st.
