I-75 at Clark Road (SR 72) Interchange Improvements in Sarasota County
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), along with Sarasota County, has identified the need to make improvements to the I-75 at Clark Road (SR 72) interchange in order to improve highway operations, safety, and regional mobility.
The improvements for I-75 include from Clark to Bee Ridge on Northbound I-75, and from Proctor Rd to Clark Rd on Southbound I-75, widening for a 12-foot auxiliary lane, milling and resurfacing the existing mainline pavement and reconstruction of all of the ramps at Clark Road (SR 72) interchange. The I-75 bridges over Clark Road (SR 72) (No. 170085 and No. 170086) will remain existing with three lanes in both directions of travel.
The proposed improvements include reconstruction of the interchange to an eight-lane divided Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). The proposed project also includes reconstruction of all on and off ramps in both the northbound and southbound direction. The project will also include new mast arms for the existing signal at Catamaran Drive, a new signal at Queensbury Boulevard, noise barrier walls, as well as buffered bike lanes and, sidewalks along both sides of Clark Road and resurfacing of existing pavement. The I-75 bridges over Clark Road will remain with three lanes in both directions of travel.
Acquisition of right of way for the construction improvements is needed.
