About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One is proposing safety improvements on State Road (SR) 33 (Lakeland Hills Boulevard) from North Iowa Avenue to Parkview Place in Lakeland. The proposed project design will add a raised grass median to replace the two-way, left turn lane on SR 33.

Project Description

Background: SR 33 (Lakeland Hills Boulevard) in Lakeland is a four-lane highway with a center lane for two-way left turns. Replacing the two-way left turn lane with a raised grassed median is recommended to enhance safety.

Current conditions: The posted speed on SR 33 is 45 miles per hour. There are sidewalks on both sides of the roadway with pedestrian crossings. There are no bike lanes.

Design conditions: The design proposes replacing the two-way, left turn lane with a raised grass median.
