Cortez Road (SR 684) Safety Improvements Project
FDOT is designing safety improvements for Cortez Road (SR 684) from east of 123rd Street West to west of 86th Street West. The project will improve safety by reducing crashes, reducing vehicular conflict points, improving eastbound traffic flow from barrier islands, and installing bike lanes to separate bike traffic. FDOT is proposing several options to improve safety at the intersection of Cortez Road (SR 684) and 119 Street West. The safety improvements will also include a median from the West Manatee Fire and Rescue Station to Royal Palm Drive West to reduce vehicular conflict points. Other improvements include the use of a high friction surface treatment to provide a better gripping surface for vehicles to reduce skidding, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) modifications.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, will hold a public hearing to discuss the Cortez Road (SR 684) Safety Improvements project on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Cortez Road Baptist Church, 4411 100th St W, Bradenton, FL 34210. The hearing will begin as an open house at 5 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6 p.m.
