Taylor Road Shared Use Path from US 41 to Airport Road
Charlotte County, Florida
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, has begun a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for a proposed shared use path on Taylor Road in Charlotte County. This project entails adding approximately 3.6 miles of pathway between US 41 and Airport
Road. Alignments on both the east and west sides of the roadway will be evaluated. Within the PD&E Study limits, Taylor Road has no dedicated bicycle facilities and intermittent unconnected pedestrian facilities. No modifications are planned to the existing two-lane roadway. The PD&E Study will take into consideration a potential future widening of Taylor Road from two to four lanes within the same project limits.
The purpose of this project is to provide a safe, viable, non-motorized travel option for commuters and recreational users of Taylor Road. This study will identify and evaluate the potential impacts associated with each alternative, including the social, economic, and environmental effects that may result from constructing the trail.
