Project Details
About
The S.R. 29 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study evaluated proposed improvements to S.R. 29 in Collier and Hendry counties. The project limits are from north of S.R. 82 in Collier County to south of County Road 80A in Hendry County, a distance of approximately 18 miles. The proposed improvements include widening S.R. 29 from two lanes to four lanes.
Need for the Project
S.R. 29 is designated as a hurricane evacuation route and is part of Florida's Strategic Intermodal System. The need for the project is also shown in the projected traffic volumes. Traffic volumes on S.R. 29 are projected to increase from an existing range of 4,600 and 10,200 vehicles per day to a range of 16,100 to 24,100 vehicles per day in the design year (2040).
