DOT Construction Open House on Tuesday, February 28, for Project Improvements on US 17, SR 540 and 1st Street South located in Winter Haven, Polk County

 BARTOW, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One will hold a construction open house on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, to share information on improvements to US 17 at SR 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard), Cypress Gardens Boulevard from US 17 to 1st Street South, and 1st Street South from Cypress Gardens Boulevard to Post Avenue SW.

The Open House will be held at AdventHealth Field House and Conference Center, Room B from 4 - 6 p.m., allowing the community the opportunity to view project exhibits and speak with FDOT staff. The Conference Center is located within the project limits at 210 Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Winter Haven, FL 33880. For those unable to attend, open house exhibits and materials will be available on the project webpage at www.swflroads.com.

This roadway improvement project includes adding turn lanes on US 17 and Cypress Gardens Boulevard, adding a dedicated through lane on 1st Street South at Cypress Gardens Boulevard, making traffic separators permanent on Cypress Gardens Boulevard and on 1st Street South at Post Avenue Southwest, upgrading streetlights to LED, better defining crosswalks and adding pedestrian countdown signals. Construction begins in early March.

This meeting has been developed in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes.
