View project: SR 17 from South of Lake Verona Boulevard to South Delany Avenue

• S.R. 17 from C.R. 17 (Kenilworth Boulevard) to East of U.S. 98/U.S. 27 and from South of Lake Verona Boulevard to South Delaney Avenue: Construction project: Crews are beginning roadway improvements along S.R. 17 in Highlands County. The project includes milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, sidewalk and curb upgrades, signalization and lighting enhancements, railroad crossing reconstruction, and new signage and pavement markings.

  • Intermittent daytime lane and shoulder closures will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., as needed, between Hickory Street and Fielder Boulevard and between North Lake Avenue and East Canfield Street. These closures are necessary for signalization and lighting work at intersections.
  • Starting August 3 and continuing through August 28, crews are scheduled to implement shoulder closures and temporary pedestrian detours at several S.R. 17 intersections, including Kenilworth Boulevard, Sebring Parkway, North Pine Street, Orange Avenue, Glenwood Avenue, Sunnyland Avenue, Main Street, North Franklin Street/Oak Avenue, Helena Avenue, East Canfield Street, and North Lake Avenue.
  • Signalization and lighting work will include installing pedestrian poles, lighting bases, pull boxes, and directional bores at multiple intersections. Directional boring is also scheduled near North Pine Street and North Lake Avenue.
  • Pedestrian access near active work areas may be temporarily closed. Pedestrians should plan accordingly, follow posted signs, and use designated temporary pedestrian detours.
  • Motorists should expect workers, construction equipment, and possible changes in traffic patterns near the North Pine Street intersection. Drivers should use caution and follow all posted signs and directions from flaggers.
  • Motorists should remain alert and watch for workers and equipment throughout the construction zone.

  Estimated completion is in spring 2027.

• S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road and from north of Tower Street to south of Tower Street: Construction project: Crews are reconstructing rigid pavement on S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) from north of Tower Street to south of Tower Street. Additionally, milling and resurfacing work is ongoing on U.S. 27 from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road.

  • Daily daytime and nighttime lane closures continue northbound and southbound S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) for paving and shoulder widening activities throughout the project limits.
  • Motorists should use caution at the U.S. 27 and Dal Hall Boulevard/Tower Street intersection due to construction traffic entering and leaving the work zone.
  • The northbound U.S. 27 lane shift moving traffic onto the newly constructed concrete pavement at the U.S. 27 and Dal Hall Boulevard/Tower Street intersection has been completed. Drivers should use extra caution while traveling through this area.
  • Motorists should use caution at the U.S. 27 and Dal Hall Boulevard/Tower Street intersection due to construction traffic entering and leaving the work zone.
  • Motorists should use caution in the area and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.

• S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road and from north of Tower Street to south of Tower Street: Construction project: Crews are reconstructing rigid pavement on S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) from north of Tower Street to south of Tower Street. Additionally, milling and resurfacing work is ongoing on U.S. 27 from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road.

  • Daily daytime and nighttime lane closures continue northbound and southbound S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) for paving and shoulder widening activities throughout the project limits.
  • A northbound U.S. 27 lane shift is tentatively scheduled for the evening of Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the U.S. 27 and Dal Hall Boulevard/Tower Street intersection. Traffic will be shifted onto the newly constructed concrete pavement. This schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
  • Motorists should use caution at the U.S. 27 and Dal Hall Boulevard/Tower Street intersection due to construction traffic entering and leaving the work zone.
  • Motorists should use caution in the area and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.
