View project: SR 17 from South of Lake Verona Boulevard to South Delany Avenue

• S.R. 17 from C.R. 17 (Kenilworth Boulevard) to East of U.S. 98/U.S. 27 and from South of Lake Verona Boulevard to South Delaney Avenue: Construction project: Crews are beginning roadway improvements along S.R. 17 in Highlands County. The project includes milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, sidewalk and curb upgrades, signalization and lighting enhancements, railroad crossing reconstruction, and new signage and pavement markings.

  • Intermittent daytime lane and shoulder closures will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., as needed, throughout the project limits for intersection and pedestrian improvements.
  • Shoulder closures and temporary pedestrian detours are expected at several intersections, including Sebring Parkway, North Pine Street, Orange Avenue, Glenwood Avenue, Sunniland Drive, Main Street, North Franklin Street/Oak Avenue, Helena Avenue, East Canfield Street, and North Lake Avenue.
  • Crews will continue sidewalk, curb, lighting, pedestrian pole, and pull-box installation work at various intersections.
  • Overnight construction is scheduled at S.R. 17 (Main Street) and North Lake Avenue from September 29 through approximately October 13, 2026, weather permitting. Work will include signalization improvements, directional boring, and pull-box installation.
  • Pedestrian access near active work areas may be temporarily closed. Pedestrians should plan accordingly, follow posted signs, and use designated temporary pedestrian detours.
  • Motorists should expect workers, construction equipment, and possible changes in traffic patterns near the North Pine Street intersection. Drivers should use caution and follow all posted signs and directions from flaggers.
  • Motorists should remain alert and watch for workers and equipment throughout the construction zone.

  Estimated completion is in spring 2027.

• S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road and from North of Tower Street to South of Tower Street: Construction project: Crews are reconstructing rigid pavement on S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) from north of Tower Street to south of Tower Street. Additionally, milling and resurfacing work is ongoing on U.S. 27 from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road.

  • Daily daytime and nighttime lane closures continue on northbound and southbound S.R. 25 (U.S. 27) for paving, lighting, signalization, signage, curb, sidewalk, and other roadway activities throughout the project limits.
  • Nighttime curb, gutter, sidewalk, crosswalk, and drainage-flume work is scheduled through mid-October.
  • Nighttime paving activities are scheduled to continue through mid-October. Daytime paving may also occur in various locations.
  • Intermittent lane closures may occur at the U.S. 27 and Dal Hall Boulevard/Tower Street intersection while crews complete roadway work. Motorists should use extra caution in this area.
  • Daytime lighting, signalization, and signage activities will continue throughout the project limits.
