State Road 55 (U.S. 19) and State Road 684; from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 and at Royal Palm Drive, Manatee: Construction project: These projects include making improvements along State Road 55 (U.S. 19) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., SR 55 (U.S. 19) from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 (Northbound Ramp) and along State Road 684 at Royal Palm Drive in Manatee County. Improvements will involve milling and resurfacing State Road 55 from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., implementing safety improvements, guardrail replacements, sidewalk repair, lighting updates, pedestrian signal replacements, and median modifications.
- S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E. - Daily sidewalk closures are scheduled for the next two weeks to accommodate directional bore work. Activities will take place during daytime hours beginning Monday, November 3, 2025, and will continue throughout the week. No lane closures are anticipated; however, pedestrian access will be detoured. Please follow the posted temporary pedestrian detour route.
- Northbound U.S. 41 – Outside Lane Closure near 21st Avenue: Crews will set barrier wall for an extended closure of the outside lane, including the turn lane into the south entrance of Red Barn Flea Market, from 8 p.m. Sunday, November 2, to 6 a.m. Monday, November 3.
- Once the barrier wall is in place, crews will remove and replace old drainage pipes and structures within the extended closure from Monday, November 3, through Thursday, November 6, 2025. Work will occur during daytime hours. Motorists should watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway and expect delays.
- Crews anticipate removing the barrier wall for the extended closure on the night of Thursday, November 6, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday morning.
The estimated completion date for construction is Spring 2027.

SR 789 from the Coquina Park entrance to SR 64 (Manatee Avenue West): Construction project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be milling and resurfacing approximately four miles of SR 789 from the Coquina Park entrance to SR 64/Manatee Avenue West in fall 2025. In addition to milling and resurfacing, crews will install traffic monitoring devices and will apply new signing and pavement markings. The estimated project cost is $3 million and estimated completion is early spring 2026. To minimize inconvenience, the project will be done overnight. The project was accelerated to start just after turtle nesting season ends on October 31, 2025, and is expected to finish before the next nesting season starts on May 1, 2026.
- Motorists can expect overnight single-lane closures throught the length of ther project
- Please be aware of workers and construction equipment /noise during the overnight hours. Plan for additional time or choose an alternate route if possible
The estimated completion is spring of 2026.
