State Road 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard: Construction project: This project includes widening S.R. 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane or six-lane divided roadway, depending on the location, construction of roundabouts on S.R. 70 at Uihlein Road, Del Webb Boulevard, and Bourneside Boulevard, intersection improvements at the existing signalized intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Lorraine Road, construction of four bridges over two Braden River crossing locations, new drainage system, construction of 10-foot shared use paths, street lighting, and landscaping, and installation of new fiber optic cable connecting the two signalized intersections to Manatee County’s regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).

This week’s work will consist of:

·         Excavation of the pond on the north side of S.R. 70 West of Uihlein Road.

• Grading and removal of fill material along right of way on the South side of S.R. 70 between Lindrick Lane and Bourneside Boulevard.

• Driving bridge pile for the western most westbound bridge.

• Crews will grade stabilization between Bourneside Boulevard and Polo Run on the north side of S.R. 70.

• Mixing and grading stabilization at Uihlein Road

• Installing drainage on the north side of S.R. 70 between Uihlein Road and Bourneside Boulevard.

Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone throughout the construction limits. Work will occur Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use caution and be aware of workers and flaggers in the area.

Uihlein Road is closed to construct the north portion of the Uihlein Road roundabout. During this time no traffic will be permitted on Uihlein Road between S.R. 70 and Sapphire Point Drive in either direction. A complete detour and message boards are provided for the detour.

State Road 55 (U.S. 19) and State Road 684; from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 and at Royal Palm Drive, Manatee: Construction project: These projects include making improvements along State Road 55 (U.S. 19) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., SR 55 (U.S. 19) from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 (Northbound Ramp) and along State Road 684 at Royal Palm Drive in Manatee County. Improvements will involve milling and resurfacing State Road 55 from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., implementing safety improvements, guardrail replacements, sidewalk repair, lighting updates, pedestrian signal replacements, and median modifications.

• S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E. - Daily sidewalk closures are scheduled for the next two weeks to accommodate directional bore work. Activities will take place during daytime hours beginning Monday, November 3, 2025, and will continue throughout the week. No lane closures are anticipated; however, pedestrian access will be detoured. Please follow the posted temporary pedestrian detour route.

• Northbound U.S. 41 – Outside Lane Closure near 21st Avenue: Crews will set barrier wall for an extended closure of the outside lane, including the turn lane into the south entrance of Red Barn Flea Market, from 8 p.m. Sunday, November 2, to 6 a.m. Monday, November 3.

• Once the barrier wall is in place, crews will remove and replace old drainage pipes and structures within the extended closure from Monday, November 3, through Thursday, November 6, 2025. Work will occur during daytime hours. Motorists should watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway and expect delays.

• Crews anticipate removing the barrier wall for the extended closure on the night of Thursday, November 6, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday morning.

The estimated completion date for construction is Spring 2027.

State Road 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening S.R. 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, Safety features will include roundabouts to be constructed at 197th Street East/Lindrick Lane, 213th Street East, 225th Street East/Panther Ridge Trail and County Road 675/Waterbury Road. The project will also include the installation of a new drainage system, new curb and gutter, construction of 10-foot shared-use paths and 5-foot paved shoulders on both sides of the roadway, street lighting throughout the project and landscaping inside the roundabouts.

This week’s work will consist of:

·         Future eastbound construction will continue with stabilized subgrade and base construction between 213th Street and Meadow Dove Lane, on the south side of S.R. 70.

·         Construction of embankment and stabilization for future eastbound lanes east of Meadow Dove Lane.

·         Installing temporary pavement markings and reopening 213th Street at S.R. 70. This is expected early in the week.

·         Installing conduit for lighting electrical services.

·         Backfilling of a box culvert between Lindrick Lane and 213th Street in existing S.R. 70 lanes at the location where traffic was diverted.

·         Installing drainage and grading the outfall at the new box culvert, on the south side of S.R. 70 between 197th Street and 213th Street.

·         Clearing on the North side of S.R. 70 for future shared use path at 197th Street.

·         Utility relocations on the north side of S.R. 70.

Please be aware that  213th Street is closed to construct the south portion of the 213th Street Road roundabout. During this time no traffic will be permitted to enter or exit 213th via S.R. 70. A complete detour and message boards are provided for the detour. 213th Street is scheduled to be reopened this week.

Panther Ridge Trail will be closed starting on November 10th, 2025, to construct the South portion of the Panther Ridge Trail roundabout. During this time no traffic will be permitted to enter or exit Panther Ridge Trail via S.R. 70. A complete detour and message boards will be provided in advance of the closure being implemented.

SR 789 from the Coquina Park entrance to SR 64 (Manatee Avenue West): Construction project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be milling and resurfacing approximately four miles of SR 789 from the Coquina Park entrance to SR 64/Manatee Avenue West in fall 2025. In addition to milling and resurfacing, crews will install traffic monitoring devices and will apply new signing and pavement markings. The estimated project cost is $3 million and estimated completion is early spring 2026. To minimize inconvenience, the project will be done overnight. The project was accelerated to start just after turtle nesting season ends on October 31, 2025, and is expected to finish before the next nesting season starts on May 1, 2026.

• Motorists can expect overnight single-lane closures throught the  length of ther project
• Please be aware of workers and construction equipment /noise during the overnight hours. Plan for additional time or choose an alternate route if possible

The estimated completion is spring of 2026.

I-275 (SR 93) from I-75 to Terra Ceia River: Construction project: Crews are milling, resurfacing and installing pavement markings on 2.2 miles of roadway on I-275 (SR 93) from I-75 to Terra Ceia River. The project improvements include milling and resurfacing, shoulder and ramp work, overbuild for cross slope correction, guardrail and signing and pavement markings. 

• Motorists can expect single-lane closures on I-275 overnight throughout construction.
• Motorists can expect on- and off-ramp closures at the intersection of US 41 and I-275 with overnight detours. Starting in October, one ramp at a time will close overnight for the removal and installation of new guardrails (weather permitting). Motorists can expect to see workers, signs and detours throughout the guardrail project on the following nights:
  • On November 2-3, there will be off-ramp closures that will alternate with the on-ramp on northbound I-275 to US 41 each night from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Motorists will be detoured to continue northbound on I-275 to northbound I-75, then to the Parrish exit (Exit 229) and turn left at westbound Moccasin Wallow Road. Follow the detour signs on westbound Moccasin Wallow Road to the intersection of US 41 and turn left at US 41 to head southbound.
  • From October 29-30,  the on-ramp for northbound I-275 from US 41 will be closed each night from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. On November 2-3, there will also be closures that will alternate with the off-ramp. Motorists traveling northbound on US 41 will need to exit onto US 19 prior to I-275, following the detour signs on US 19 to northbound I-275. Motorists traveling southbound on US 41 will need to continue southbound and follow the detour signs to northbound US 19.
• Motorists may wish to use alternate routes if traveling in the area from 7 p.m. until 7:30 a.m.

Estimated completion is late summer 2026.

US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews are in the final stages of a 7.6-mile improvement project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, and pavement marking.

• Motorists can expect daytime shoulder closures along US 301 for shoulder construction at intersections between 25th Court East and 13th Avenue East.
• Motorists can expect intermittent nighttime shoulder widening at various intersections Sunday through Thursday for the next few weeks.
• Motorists can expect nighttime paving with flagging operations to resume at various intersections throughout the project.
•  The project’s completion is expected fall of 2025.
