View project: I-75 (SR 93) from Sarasota County Line to I-275

• I-75 (SR 93) at the Intersection of S.R. 64 and S.R. 70: Construction project: This project is for the construction of  Arterial Dynamic Message Signs (ADMS) on I-75 at two interchanges in Manatee County. The items of work include the construction of ADMS, fiber optic cable, conduit, pull and splice boxes, verification closed circuit television (VCCTVs) cameras, power subsystem infrastructure, and device integration.

  Motorists can expect temporary right lane closures while crews perform drill shaft operations from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. at the following locations:

  • Tuesday, May 26, on eastbound S.R. 64 just west of I-75.
  • Wednesday, May 27, on eastbound S.R. 70 just west of I-75.
  • Thursday, May 28, on westbound S.R. 64 just east of I-75.
  • Monday, June 1, on westbound S.R. 70 just east of I-75.

  Please use caution and watch for workers in or near the travel lanes. Expected completion is late-2026.

View project: State Road (SR) 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard Widening Project

• S.R. 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard: Construction project: This project includes widening S.R. 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane or six-lane divided roadway, depending on the location, construction of roundabouts on S.R. 70 at Uihlein Road, Del Webb Boulevard, and Bourneside Boulevard, intersection improvements at the existing signalized intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Lorraine Road, construction of four bridges over two Braden River crossing locations, new drainage system, construction of 10-foot shared use paths, street lighting, and landscaping, and installation of new fiber optic cable connecting the two signalized intersections to Manatee County’s regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).

   

  Recently, bicyclists and pedestrians have been observed entering the work zone and using shared-use paths within the project limits. Although these areas may appear finished, construction activities are still ongoing. These areas are not open to the public and may contain open excavations, fresh asphalt, or uncured concrete, posing significant safety hazards to anyone not affiliated with the project. These roadways and shared-use paths within the work zone are clearly marked as closed with signage. Additionally, vehicles have been observed driving through closed side streets while workers are present, creating a serious risk of injury or accident.

   

  This week’s work will consist of:

   

  ·         Greenbrook will be reopened on May 12th during a traffic shift to place traffic on S.R. 70 onto new asphalt. This traffic switch will involve temporary stoppages of traffic and flagging to install temporary pavement markings and remove old markings. Post Boulevard will be closed at this time.

  ·         Post Boulevard and existing S.R. 70 at the intersection will be milled and excavated.

  ·         Excavation of the pond on the north side of S.R. 70, west of Uihlein Road.

  ·         Forming and pouring pile caps for the easternmost S.R. 70 westbound bridge. Setting forms and mobilizing material for the bridge deck for the westernmost S.R. 70 westbound bridge.

  ·         Grading base between Bourneside Boulevard and Polo Run on the north side of S.R. 70 for shared use path.

   

  ·         Installing light conduit and foundations on the north side of S.R.70 between Uihlein Road and Bourneside Boulevard.

   

  Greenbrook Boulevard is closed until May 2026 to allow for the construction of the south portion of the Greenbrook Boulevard intersection. During this time, no traffic is permitted on Greenbrook Boulevard between S.R. 70 and Skip Jack Loop in either direction. The north side of Greenbrook Boulevard and S.R. 70 will remain open. A full detour route and message boards are in place in advance of the closure.

   

  Post Boulevard will be closed starting on May 12, 2026, to allow for the construction of the north portion of the Post Boulevard intersection. At that time, no traffic will be permitted on Post Boulevard between S.R. 70 and Garnet Trail in either direction. A detour route will be in place for traffic to utilize Rangeland Parkway and Lorraine Road. Greenbrook Boulevard will be open during this closure. This closure will be in place for 90 days.

   

  Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone throughout the construction limits. Work will take place Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Be aware of workers and flaggers in the area.

   

  The estimated completion date for construction is summer 2027.

View project: SR 55 (US 19) and SR 684; from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 and at Royal Palm Drive

• S.R. 55 (U.S. 19) and S.R. 684; from 23rd Avenue W to 39th Street E, from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 and at Royal Palm Drive, Manatee: Construction project: These projects include making improvements along S.R. 55 (U.S. 19) from 23rd Avenue W to 39th Street E, S.R. 55 (U.S. 19) from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 (northbound ramp) and along S.R. 684 at Royal Palm Drive in Manatee County. Improvements will involve milling and resurfacing S.R. 55 from 23rd Avenue W to 39th Street E, implementing safety improvements, guardrail replacements, sidewalk repair, lighting updates, pedestrian signal replacements, and median modifications.

   

  ·         S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W. to to 39th Street E - Motorists should expect alternating lane closures between the inside and outside lanes on northbound U.S. 41 from 23rd Avenue W. to just south of Manatee River at Riverfront Road Crossing. Closures will be in effect for asphalt milling and paving activities during nighttime hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting Monday night, May 11th through Thursday night, May 14th.

   

  ·         S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W. to to 39th Street E - Motorists should expect alternating lane closures between the inside and outside lanes on southbound U.S. 41 from the Riverfront Road crossing, just south of Manatee River to 23rd Avenue W.  Closures will be in effect for asphalt milling and paving activities during nighttime hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting Monday night, May 11th through Thursday night, May 14th.

   

  The estimated completion date for construction is spring 2027.

View project: SR 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to CR 675 (Waterbury Rd)

• S.R. 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening S.R. 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, Safety features will include roundabouts to be constructed at 197th Street East/Lindrick Lane, 213th Street East, 225th Street East/Panther Ridge Trail and County Road 675/Waterbury Road. The project will also include the installation of a new drainage system, new curb and gutter, construction of 10-foot shared-use paths and five-foot paved shoulders on both sides of the roadway, street lighting throughout the project and landscaping inside the roundabouts.

   

  Please refrain from entering the work zone. For the safety of all, please stay out of the work area.

   

  This week’s work will consist of:

   

  ·         Grading swale and future shared use path on the south side of S.R. 70 between Lindrick Lane and Bourneside Boulevard.

   

  ·         Removing existing utility conduit on the north side of S.R. 70 at C.R. 675.

   

  ·         Installation of storm drainage at C.R. 675 on the north side of S.R. 70.

   

  ·         Demolition of existing roadway on S.R. 70 at the C.R. 675 intersection and installing embankment.

   

  C.R. 675 is closed for two months to construct the north side of the C.R. 675/Meadow Dove Lane roundabout. During the closure, no traffic will be permitted to enter or exit C.R. 675 via S.R. 70. Only emergency vehicles will be permitted through the intersection. A full detour will be in place, with message boards directing traffic along the detour route by way of S.R. 64 and Verna Bethany Road. Businesses along C.R. 675 remain open and are accessible via the posted detour.

   

  The estimated completion date for construction is summer 2027.

View project: 15th Street E (SR 70 spur) from 30th Avenue East to 26th Avenue East

• 15th Street E (S.R. 70 Spur) from 30th Avenue E to 26th Avenue E: Construction project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is milling and resurfacing 15th Street E (S.R. 70 Spur) from 30th Avenue E to 26th Avenue E in Manatee County starting in May of 2026. This safety project’s improvements also include installation of new sidewalk and existing sidewalk repairs, drainage work, lighting, signalization, signage and new pavement markings on approximately .25 miles.

  • Motorists can expect intermittent daytime and nighttime lane closures throughout the project limits.
  • Please be aware there may be uneven areas of pavement while work is underway.
  • Pedestrians can expect detours where sidewalks are being repaired or replaced.
  • Please follow signage and watch for workers in and near the roadway during daytime and nighttime hours.
  • The estimated completion is fall of 2026.

View project: I-275 (S.R. 93) from I-75 to Terra Ceia River

• I-275 (S.R. 93) from I-75 to Terra Ceia River: Construction project: Crews are milling, resurfacing, and installing pavement markings on 2.2 miles of roadway on I-275 (S.R. 93) from I-75 to Terra Ceia River. The project improvements include milling and resurfacing, shoulder and ramp work, overbuilding for cross-slope correction, guardrail and signing, and pavement markings. 

  • Throughout the project limits motorists can expect intermittent lane closures as crews continue sign installation operations.
  • During the active construction phase, motorists can expect uneven pavement throughout the project limits. Please use caution and follow the posted speed limits.
  • Paving will continue in late spring/early summer (weather and materials availability permitting).
  • Estimated completion is mid- to late-2026.

   

View project: SR 64 from Grand Harbour Parkway to Lena Road

• S.R. 64 from Grand Harbour Parkway to Lena Road: Maintenance project: FDOT will begin a resurfacing project in late April (weather and materials pending) on S.R. 64 from Grand Harbour Parkway to Lena Road. Crews will be milling, resurfacing and adding vehicle detection loops and pull boxes.

  • Motorists can expect single and double-lane closures on S.R. 64 in both directions, Sunday through Thursday nights from approximately 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Motorists should stay alert for traffic signs and changing traffic patterns throughout the project.
  • Motorists should be aware of workers and equipment in the area and follow posted speed limits throughout the project.
  • Expected completion is midsummer, weather permitting.

View project: US 41 (SR 45) from N of SR 55 (US 19) to N of 69th Street E

• U.S. 41 (S.R. 45) from North of U.S. 19 (S.R. 55) to 69th Street East (Erie Road). Construction project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will construct median modifications to reduce conflict points and improve safety starting in early 2026. The project improvements include drainage, guardrail, milling and resurfacing on U.S. 41 from north of S.R. 55 (U.S. 19) to north of 69th Street East (Erie Road). Crews will apply new signing and pavement markings once the final paving has been completed. The project limits are approximately 2.6 miles.

  • Motorists can expect intermittent interior and exterior lane closures northbound and southbound on U.S. 41 as crews continue concrete, drainage, guardrail and sod work in the median within the project limits during the day.
  • Throughout the next few months, weather permitting, motorists can expect intermittent interior and exterior nighttime lane closures on northbound and southbound U.S. 41 as crews continue milling and resurfacing operations.
  • Please be aware of workers and construction equipment /noise during daytime and overnight hours.
  • Motorists can expect temporary uneven pavement throughout the project limits until final completion.
  • Plan for additional time or choose an alternate route if needed.
  • Estimated completion is mid-2026.

   

View project: US 41 (SR 45) from 63rd Avenue to 53rd Avenue

• U.S. 41 (SR 45) from 63rd Avenue to 53rd Avenue: Construction project: Crews have begun a safety project on U.S. 41 from 63rd Avenue to 53rd Avenue. The project limits cover approximately 1.27 miles. Crews will install curb and gutter, sidewalk, signalization, lighting, pedestrian beacons at seven new mid-block crosswalks, vehicle detection systems and apply new signing and pavement markings.

  • Through early spring, motorists can expect temporary southbound and northbound inside and outside lane closures on U.S. 41 throughout the project limits.
    --Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures on U.S. 41 overnight from Monday, May 4 through Thursday, May 7 as crews install mast arms on U.S. 41 from Saunders Road to 53rd Avenue West. The operation will occur in sections throughout the evening hours.
    --Please be aware of traffic shifts, workers, flaggers and cones while the work is being conducted
  • Pedestrians can expect detours throughout the project and are encouraged to follow the detour signage and use caution.
  • Please use caution while traveling through an active construction zone and watch for workers in and around the project limits.
  • Estimated project completion is late 2026.
