View project: State Road (SR) 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard Widening Project

• S.R. 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard: Construction project: This project includes widening S.R. 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane or six-lane divided roadway, depending on the location, construction of roundabouts on S.R. 70 at Uihlein Road, Del Webb Boulevard, and Bourneside Boulevard, intersection improvements at the existing signalized intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Lorraine Road, construction of four bridges over two Braden River crossing locations, new drainage system, construction of 10-foot shared use paths, street lighting, and landscaping, and installation of new fiber optic cable connecting the two signalized intersections to Manatee County’s regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).

   

  Recently, bicyclists and pedestrians have been observed entering the work zone and using shared-use paths within the project limits. Although these areas may appear finished, construction activities are still ongoing. These areas are not open to the public and may contain open excavations, fresh asphalt, or uncured concrete, posing significant safety hazards to anyone not affiliated with the project. These roadways and shared-use paths within the work zone are clearly marked as closed with signage. Additionally, vehicles have been observed driving through closed side streets while workers are present, creating a serious risk of injury or accident.

   

  This week’s work will consist of:

  ·         Post Boulevard and existing S.R. 70 at the intersection will have embankment and stabilization placed for the future roadway. Drainage will be installed on S.R. 70 between Post Boulevard and Lorraine Road.

  ·         Forming and casting sidewalk drainage inlets at Del Webb on the north side of S.R. 70.

  ·         Excavation of the pond on the north side of S.R. 70, west of Uihlein Road.

  ·         Forming and pouring pile caps for the easternmost S.R. 70 westbound bridge. Removing forms for the bridge approach slabs for the westernmost S.R. 70 westbound bridge and forming traffic railing.

  ·         Installing waterline pipe on the north side of S.R. 70 between Lorraine Road and Post Boulevard.

  Post Boulevard is closed to allow for the construction of the north portion of the Post Boulevard intersection. During this closure, no traffic will be permitted on Post Boulevard between S.R. 70 and Garnet Trail in either direction. A detour route is in place for traffic to utilize Rangeland Parkway and Lorraine Road. Greenbrook Boulevard will be open during this closure. This closure is in place until late August 2026.

  Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone throughout the construction limits. Work will take place Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Be aware of workers and flaggers in the area.

  The estimated completion date for construction is summer 2027.

• S.R. 55 (U.S. 19) and S.R. 684; from 23rd Avenue W to 39th Street E, from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 and at Royal Palm Drive, Manatee: Construction project: These projects include making improvements along S.R. 55 (U.S. 19) from 23rd Avenue W to 39th Street E, S.R. 55 (U.S. 19) from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 (northbound ramp) and along S.R. 684 at Royal Palm Drive in Manatee County. Improvements will involve milling and resurfacing S.R. 55 from 23rd Avenue W to 39th Street E implementing safety improvements, guardrail replacements, sidewalk repair, lighting updates, pedestrian signal replacements, and median modifications. The estimated completion date for construction is spring 2027.

   

  ·         S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E. – Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures in either the northbound or southbound outside lanes from 23rd Avenue W. through Riverfront Boulevard/Manatee River Bridge from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, Monday, July 6, through Thursday night, July 9, for asphalt milling and paving operations.

   

  ·         Additionally, motorists should expect daytime lane closures in both the northbound and southbound directions of U.S. 19 from Haben Boulevard to 23rd Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, and Thursday, July 9, for concrete sidewalk pours.

   

  Please use caution and watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone and expect delays.

  ·         S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W to 39th Street E - Motorists should expect lane closures in the either the northbound or southbound outside lanes from 23rd Avenue W through Riverfront Boulevard/Manatee River Bridge. Closure will be in effect for asphalt milling and paving activities from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly Sunday June 21 through Thursday night June 25. Please use caution and watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone. Expect delays.

   

  The estimated completion date for construction is spring 2027.

• S.R. 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening S.R. 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, Safety features will include roundabouts to be constructed at 197th Street East/Lindrick Lane, 213th Street East, 225th Street East/Panther Ridge Trail and County Road 675/Waterbury Road. The project will also include the installation of a new drainage system, new curb and gutter, construction of 10-foot shared-use paths and five-foot paved shoulders on both sides of the roadway, street lighting throughout the project and landscaping inside the roundabouts.

   

  This week’s work will consist of:

  ·         Grading swale and future shared use path on the south side of S.R. 70 between Lindrick Lane and Bourneside Boulevard.

  ·         Grading swale and installing sod at C.R. 675 and S.R. 70.

  ·         Installing new power poles on the north side of S.R. 70 between 197th Street and C.R. 675.

  ·         Constructing roadway embankment at S.R. 70 and 213th Street for the construction of the north side of the roundabout at 213th Street and S.R. 70.

  ·         Removal of existing pavement at Lindrick Lane.

   

  Lindrick Lane at S.R. 70 will be closed on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, for approximately two months to construct the south side of the Lindrick Lane roundabout. During the closure, no traffic will be permitted to enter or exit Lindrick Lane via S.R. 70. A full detour will be in place directing traffic via 213th Street, and message boards will be posted to assist motorists.

   

  The estimated completion date for construction is summer 2027.

• S.R. 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening S.R. 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, Safety features will include roundabouts to be constructed at 197th Street East/Lindrick Lane, 213th Street East, 225th Street East/Panther Ridge Trail and County Road 675/Waterbury Road. The project will also include the installation of a new drainage system, new curb and gutter, construction of 10-foot shared-use paths and five-foot paved shoulders on both sides of the roadway, street lighting throughout the project and landscaping inside the roundabouts.

   

  Construction activities will be suspended from Thursday, July 2, through Sunday, July 5, 2026, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Regular construction operations are expected to resume on Monday, July 6, 2026.

   

  This week’s work will consist of:

   

  ·         Installing temporary pavement markings at C.R. 675 and S.R. 70 for the new traffic pattern.

  ·         The roundabout at C.R. 675/Meadow Dove Lane and S.R. 70 will be implemented on July 1, 2026, weather depending. This roundabout will not be in its final form; additional work remains to construct the center roundabout island and surrounding medians. This traffic switch will occur during the day. Flaggers will control the traffic pattern at times and lanes will be shifted intermittently to complete the work. Please use caution when traveling through the area.

  ·         Grading swale and future shared use path on the south side of S.R. 70 between Lindrick Lane and Bourneside Boulevard.

  ·         Installing signs and sod at C.R. 675 and S.R. 70.

  ·         Installing new power poles on the north side of S.R. 70 between 197th Street and C.R. 675.

  ·         Removing the existing pavement on existing SR 70 at 213th Street for the construction of the north side of the roundabout at 213th Street and SR 70.

   

  C.R. 675 is closed for two months to construct the north side of the C.R. 675/Meadow Dove Lane roundabout. During the closure, no traffic will be permitted to enter or exit C.R. 675 via S.R. 70. Only emergency vehicles will be permitted through the intersection. A full detour will be in place, with message boards directing traffic along the detour route by way of S.R. 64 and Verna Bethany Road. Businesses along C.R. 675 remain open and are accessible via the posted detour.

   

  The estimated completion date for construction is summer 2027.

View project: US 41 (SR 45) from 63rd Avenue to 53rd Avenue

• U.S. 41 (SR 45) from 63rd Avenue to 53rd Avenue: Construction project: Crews have begun a safety project on U.S. 41 from 63rd Avenue to 53rd Avenue. The project limits cover approximately 1.27 miles. Crews will install curb and gutter, sidewalk, signalization, lighting, pedestrian beacons at seven new mid-block crosswalks, vehicle detection systems and apply new signing and pavement markings.

  •  Motorists can expect temporary south and northbound lane closures on U.S. 41 throughout the project limits as crews install light poles and complete concrete work.
  • Pedestrians can expect detours throughout the project and are encouraged to follow the detour signage and use caution.
  • Estimated project completion is late 2026.
