Lakeland, Fla. – On Sunday, May 18, at 7 am to 7 pm, and Tuesday May 27 through Saturday May 31 at 9 pm to 5 am, motorists should expect pacing operations to begin on I-4 eastbound from Hillsborough County to the Polk Parkway (Exit 41) and on I-4 westbound from Osceola County to the Lakeland Hills Blvd (Exit 33). Crews will close eastbound and westbound I-4 between Exits 41 and 33. The pacing operations will last approximately 6 days from May 18, 2025, to May 31, 2025, and detours from I-4 are expected to occur during the night on those days from 9 pm to 5 am.

For the I-4 eastbound detour, motorists may take Exit 33 onto (SR 33) Lakeland Hills Boulevard, turn right onto University Boulevard, then turn right onto (SR 570) Polk Parkway eastbound, and take Exit 24 to merge onto I-4 east to resume travel.

For the I-4 westbound detour, motorists may take Exit 41 onto (SR 570) Polk Parkway westbound, then take Exit 23 onto University Boulevard, turn left onto (SR 33) Lakeland Hills Boulevard, turn right onto North Socrum Loop Road, and turn right to merge onto   I-4 west to resume travel.

Project improvements include interchange improvements, installation of roundabouts along SR 33, and the addition of two wildlife crossings on SR 33 and I-4. This week, crews will work on utilities, drainage, and roadway grading.
