Lakeland, Fla. – Emergency crews are responding to a diesel fuel spill caused by a semi-truck engine incident on Interstate 4 near Exit 38 in Lakeland. The spill has resulted in damage to the eastbound inside lane and shoulder, prompting an immediate shoulder and lane closure for cleanup and repairs.

The affected area spans approximately a quarter mile eastbound from Exit 38. The closures will remain in place overnight and may extend into tomorrow as crews work to restore safe driving conditions.

Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays and are urged to proceed with caution. Detour routes may be necessary, and drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
