FDOT Resurfacing Project Begins October 13 on U.S. 98 South
Includes Future Signal and Intersection Upgrades at Lyle Parkway
BARTOW, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a resurfacing project on U.S. 98, from north of State Road (SR) 60 to south of County Road (CR) 540A, on Monday, October 13, 2025. Beginning that day, crews will install construction signs and erosion control devices during daytime hours in preparation for roadway work.
Milling and paving operations are scheduled to begin the night of Sunday, October 19, and will be performed overnight to minimize traffic impacts. Motorists should expect nighttime lane closures from 6:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights.
This resurfacing project is being coordinated with another FDOT project to install a new traffic signal at the U.S. 98 and Lyle Parkway intersection. That project also includes:
- Drainage improvements
- Widening the turn radius at the northwest and southeast corners of the intersection
- Installing a raised concrete pedestrian pad on the northwest corner
- High-visibility crosswalk striping
- Pedestrian signals and new intersection lighting
Crews will focus on milling and resurfacing work before beginning construction at the Lyle Parkway intersection. Both projects are expected to be completed by early 2027.
