LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces that on Monday, November 24, 2025, or as soon as weather conditions allow, crews will officially open the newly constructed roundabout at the intersection of Waring Road and Drane Field Road. This milestone marks a significant improvement in traffic flow and safety for motorists traveling through the area.

As part of this opening, the north side of Waring Road will reopen to traffic, restoring a key connection for local commuters and businesses. Drivers are urged to use caution when approaching and navigating the intersection, as new traffic patterns will be in effect. Roundabouts are designed to improve safety by reducing severe crashes and enhancing efficiency, but they require motorists to adjust to yielding and circulating rules.

FDOT encourages all travelers to stay informed about ongoing construction activities and future improvements. To receive real-time alerts and view detailed project plans, visit www.swflroads.com/project/444906-1.

Key Reminders for Motorists:

  • Slow down and approach the roundabout with caution.
  • Yield to traffic already in the roundabout.
  • Follow posted signage and lane markings.

This project is part of FDOT’s commitment to improving roadway safety and supporting the growing transportation needs of the Lakeland community.
