U.S. 27 (State Road 25) Improvements Continue from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road and from North of Tower Street to South of Tower Street
LAKE PLACID, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues roadway improvements along State Road (S.R.) 25/U.S. 27 from Shoreline Drive to Davis and Gaines Road and from north of Tower Street to south of Tower Street as part of an ongoing reconstruction and widening project.
The project includes roadway widening, drainage improvements, signalization, sidewalk construction, and safety enhancements throughout the corridor. Work on the new traffic signal at the Amazon entrance remains pending as FDOT continues coordinating with Amazon’s engineer to finalize and approve the plans before a permit can be issued. Once the permit is approved, signal components will be ordered. Manufacturing and delivery of the signal components is expected to take approximately 20 to 22 weeks before installation can begin. Installation will also depend on the FDOT construction contractor’s progress, as resurfacing work must be completed prior to the construction of turn lanes and signal installation.
Construction is progressing steadily; however, the schedule remains subject to change due to weather conditions, holidays or special events. FDOT will provide advance notice to motorists regarding any traffic impacts associated with the project and permit work.
