BARTOW, Fla. –The southbound right turn lane from U.S. 98 to Griffin Road remains closed today, Wednesday, September 17, as part of the U.S. 98 improvements project from Griffin Road to Sharon Drive.

Reconstruction work at the northwest corner of U.S. 98 requires multiple layers of asphalt. Crews were unable to complete all paving operations in a single night. For safety reasons, the turn lane will remain closed throughout the day today until crews can complete placement of the remaining asphalt layers during overnight operations.

Southbound motorists may still turn right onto Griffin Road from the adjacent travel lane, and all business driveways in the area remain open. As an alternate route, motorists may consider turning right at Pyramid Parkway to access Griffin Road or nearby businesses located along the right turn lane. Drivers are urged to use caution and watch for vehicles making right turns from the travel lane.

This work is part of the U.S. 98 improvements project from Griffin Road to Sharon Drive. For project information, visit www.swflroads.com/project/445468-1.
