BARTOW, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin milling and resurfacing U.S. 17 from Transport Road in Bartow to Avenue G S.W. in Winter Haven starting Sunday night, January 11, 2026.

The project is designed to improve the rideability of the roadway and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians. In addition to resurfacing, crews will upgrade sidewalk curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance standards and install rumble strips along the roadway edge line in Eagle Lake to improve safety.

To minimize impacts to daytime traffic, lane closures will be limited to nighttime/overnight hours between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Motorists are encouraged to use caution while traveling through the work zone, watch for lane closures and be prepared to merge.
