LANE CLOSURES ON I 4 EASTBOUND DUE TO FUEL SPILL EAST OF EXIT 38
Lakeland, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One advises motorists of lane closures on Interstate 4 (I‑4) Eastbound east of Exit 38 due to a fuel leak from a tractor‑trailer within the construction zone.
Two eastbound lanes are currently closed and being managed by the FDOT Road Ranger service. Fire Rescue and emergency responders are on scene and have applied a commercial absorbent material to contain and mitigate the fuel spill.
The project team anticipates maintaining a double lane closure at the incident location. Due to fuel contamination, maintenance crews will be required to mill and resurface the affected travel lanes to ensure roadway safety.
Lane closures are expected to remain in place until approximately 8:00 p.m. or until further notice, pending completion of cleanup and roadway repairs.
Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays, allow extra travel time, and use caution while crews work to safely restore the roadway.
