State Road (S.R.) 739 (North Tamiami Trail) from north of the Caloosahatchee River to S.R. 78 (Bayshore Road) Update
LEE COUNTY, Fla. – To our valued community, we are pleased to share regular updates on the ongoing construction of S.R. 739 from north of the Caloosahatchee River to S.R. 78. We are committed to delivering these safety improvements as quickly as possible while ensuring quality and safety remain top priorities.
Recent Work
At approximately noon today, Friday, June 12, crews removed the northbound and southbound outside lane closures. This allows all lanes to be fully operational. This past week, temporary striping and raised pavement markings were also applied. Additionally, new sod was placed along the project corridor.
Upcoming Work
This Sunday night, June 14, pending any foul weather and other unforeseen circumstances, crews will begin the final striping operations. During this work, construction crews will implement intermittent lane closures in specific work zones only, outside of peak travel times. These intermittent closures are not anticipated to impede traffic and will be used on an as-needed basis.
Estimated completion of the project has been adjusted due to project resequencing in response to addressing community concerns. Estimated completion is Spring 2026.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to finish this roadway improvement project. Stay tuned for future updates as we make progress on this critical project.
