Bartow, Fla. – The contractor working on the signal project at US 98 South and Colbert Road/Lake Hancock Road will temporarily close the median opening at the intersection starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 29. The temporary closure is expected to remain in place for about two hours while workers install the backup battery for the new signal and redo some of the roadway striping. Officers will be on hand to assist with traffic. 

During the closure, motorists wanting to turn left out of Colbert Road onto US 98 South or left onto Colbert Road from US 98 South should use the signalized intersection at Clubhouse Road as an alternate.

Southbound US 98 motorists wanting to turn left onto Lake Hancock Road should continue south on US 98 and make a U-Turn at Clubhouse Road. Motorists will still be able to turn right out of Colbert Road and head south on US 98 or right from US 98 north onto Lake Hancock Road.
