Lane Closure Scheduled on U.S. 17

BARTOW, Fla. – Crews are scheduled to close the southbound inside lane on U.S. 17, north and south of S.R. 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) in Winter Haven, beginning Wednesday, September 9. The 24-hour, seven-day-per-week southbound lane closure is expected to remain in place for approximately two weeks. The inside westbound left turn lane on Cypress Gardens Boulevard to southbound U.S. 17 will also be closed.

The closures are necessary while crews install a new drainage structure and begin constructing turn lanes for the entrance to the new Target, which is currently under construction. Use caution, be prepared to merge, and expect delays in the area.

This work is part of a permit project which includes new driveways at the Target development and a traffic signal at the Chain of Lakes Complex/Target entrance. It also includes adding a second left-turn lane from southbound U.S. 17 to Snively Avenue, making it a double left turn.
