About

The Florida Department of Transportation’s contractor, Seacoast, Inc. will begin work on June 22, 2020 to rehabilitate the drawbridge on SR 31 over the Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers Shores in Lee County. Currently overweight commercial vehicles are not permitted to use the bridge; the scheduled improvements will allow trucks to use the bridge, shorten their travel distances and improve travel times. While crews work on the bridge, temporary lane closures will occur during nighttime/overnight hours. Traffic control devices and flaggers will be on site to help motorists through the construction zone. There is a potential for weekend full bridge closures. If full bridge closures are required, the detour will be put in place. The project location and potential detour route are identified below.
