About

FDOT is building a multi-use trail bridge over S.R. 60 to connect the north and south sections of the Fort Fraser Trail. This bridge will create a direct link between both sections allowing users to traverse S.R. 60 safely and providing access to residents and businesses in Downtown Bartow.

Right now, trail users must travel east or west to the nearest intersection to cross S.R. 60, which can be challenging due to the high volume of traffic. The new bridge will complete a missing section of the trail, providing a dedicated space for walkers and cyclists, reducing interaction with vehicles and creating a safer more accessible route for everyone.

Public Involvement

FDOT staff made a presentation at a City of Bartow Commission meeting in April 2024, and held a public workshop on March 25, 2025, at FDOT District One Headquarters Conference
Center, 801 N Broadway Ave, Bartow, FL 33830.

Presentation materials from the public workshop can be viewed in the documents section below.
