About
The Florida Department of Transportation will be constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County. The trail is within the right of way limits of abandoned CSX railroad tracks and the proposed bridges will span over Clark Road (SR 72) and Bee Ridge Road (SR 758). Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall ramps will also be constructed on both approaches to each bridge along with minor roadway and trail modifications to accommodate the new bridges.

SR 758 Bee Ridge Road at the Legacy Trail: Construction project: Crews are constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County.
- Lane closures: Through the month of May and June, there will be occasional east and westbound lane closures during the day between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Detours: There may be intermittent detours during May and June to complete construction operations.
- Final project completion is expected in June 2025.

- Lane closures: During May and June, there will be occasional east and westbound lane closures during the day between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Detours: The next detour is scheduled for the early morning of May 16 for the concrete deck pour. Motorists can expect scheduled detours east and westbound on Clark Road starting sometime after midnight and continuing until 6 a.m. The detours are necessary so crews can conduct overhead bridge construction and eventually remove the existing Legacy Trail crosswalk at Clark Road. There will be intermittent detours during May and June to complete construction operations.
- Project completion is expected in June 2025.
