The Florida Department of Transportation will commence milling, resurfacing, installing curb, gutter, drainage and pavement markings on less than one-half mile on Clark Road (SR 72) from Honore Avenue to west of Gantt Road in Sarasota County. The project’s estimated cost is $5 million with completion expected in mid-2026.

S.R. 72 (Clark Road) from Honore Avenue to West of Gantt Road: Construction project: The Florida Department of Transportation is milling, resurfacing, installing curb, gutter, drainage and pavement markings on less than one-half mile on Clark Road (S.R. 72) from Honore Avenue to west of Gantt Road in Sarasota County.
- If weather permits, from February 2-6, motorists can expect overnight double-lane closures on the eastbound side of Clark Road from Honore Avenue to approximately west of Rand Boulevard.
- If weather permits, on February 9, motorists can expect overnight double-lane closures on the eastbound side of Clark Road, single-lane closures on the westbound side of Clark Road, a single, southbound left-turn lane closure on Honore Avenue at Clark Road and a single, right-turn lane closure northbound on Honore Avenue at Clark Road for milling and paving operations.
- If weather permits, on February 10, motorists can expect overnight double-lane closures on the eastbound side of Clark Road, with turnout closures to the Palmer Crossing shopping plaza for milling and paving. Patrons can access the plaza from Honore Avenue.
- If weather permits, on February 11, motorists can expect overnight single-lane closures on the eastbound and westbound side of Clark Road. At the intersection of Honore Avenue and Clark Road, motorists traveling northbound and southbound on Honore Avenue will be able to make right turns only.
- If weather permits, on February 12, motorists can expect overnight single-lane closures on the eastbound and westbound side of Clark Road. Eastbound turnouts will be closed and there will be right-turn lane closures northbound on Honore Avenue at Clark Road. Southbound traffic on Honore Avenue at Clark Road will have left-turn lanes closed for milling and paving.
- If weather permits, on February 13, motorists can expect overnight lane closures with turnout closures on the eastbound and westbound sides of Clark Road. Traffic change with detours: Motorists can expect both southbound and northbound lanes on Honore Avenue at Clark Road to be closed. Please follow posted detours to navigate around the closure. Use caution and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
- If weather permits, on February 16, motorists can expect double-lane closures on both eastbound and westbound Clark Road with turn lane closures for milling and paving. Honore Avenue northbound and southbound lanes at Clark Road will allow right turns only.
- If weather permits, on February 17, motorists can expect double-lane closures on both eastbound and westbound Clark Road with turn lane closures for milling and paving. Traffic change with detours: Honore Avenue northbound and southbound lanes at Clark Road will be fully closed. Please follow posted detours to navigate around the closure. Use caution and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
- If weather permits, on February 18, motorists can expect double-lane closures on both eastbound and westbound Clark Road with turn lane closures for milling and paving. Honore Avenue northbound and southbound lanes at Clark Road will allow right turns only.
Please watch for signs, barricades and workers close to the travel lanes and obey posted speed limits in the construction zone.
The project’s estimated completion is in mid-2026.
