About

Florida's scenic State Road 789, or Gulf Drive, serves as the primary north to south roadway throughout Bradenton Beach. In an effort to mitigate the impact of our coastal weather, FDOT will begin a drainage improvement project from 9th Street to Avenue C.  Crews will be removing the current east sidewalk and installing pavers that allow moisture to soak into the ground, easing the burden on storm drains.  These also provide an alternative to conventional asphalt or concrete surfaces that cause pooling.  During the brief project, please use extra caution in the construction zone, be aware of pedestrians and bicyclists, and expect lane closures and flagging operations.

The project improvements include removing and replacing the existing east sidewalk with pavers for improved drainage.
