About

The Florida Department of Transportation will begin construction on SR 29 from north of Wagon Wheel Road to south of I-75, and on SR 90 (US 41) from south of Southwest Boulevard to north of Thomasson Drive in Collier County. 

Improvements for SR 29 and US 41 include:

  • Milling and resurfacing
  • Shoulder improvements
  • New signing and pavement markings  

Additional improvements for US 41 include:

  • Reconstruction of concrete sidewalks
  • Replace curbs and install pedestrian curb ramps
  • Replace traffic signal detection loops

Construction is scheduled to begin in late May 2025 and is anticipated to be completed in December 2025. Schedule is tentative, subject to change and weather permitting. Estimated project cost is $9 million. 

Motorists should anticipate lane closures during construction. Please exercise caution in the work zone and anticipate delays.

  • SR 29: Motorists should anticipate intermittent single or double lane closures throughout the duration of construction.
  • US 41: Motorists should anticipate single lane closures during the overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. and double lane closures during the overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. throughout the duration of construction.

  • SR 29 and SR 90 (US 41) Resurfacing and Road Improvements: FDOT is resurfacing SR 29 from north of Wagon Wheel Road to south of I-75, and SR 90 (US 41) from south of Southwest Boulevard to north of Thomasson Drive in Collier County. Improvements to both SR 29 and US 41 include milling and resurfacing, shoulder improvements and new signing and pavement markings. Additional improvements to US 41 include reconstruction of concrete sidewalks, replacement of curbs and installation of pedestrian curb ramps, and replacement of traffic signal detection loops. 

    The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances. 

     

    • Motorists should anticipate lane closures throughout the duration of construction. 

     

    Work on SR 29: 

    • Crews will be working on milling and paving. Flaggers will be on site to assist motorists. 

     

    Crews are working close to the roadway. Please exercise caution in the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, and anticipate delays. The expected completion date is December 2025.
