About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a safety improvement project in July 2025 at the intersection of US 441 and SE 28th Street in Okeechobee County. Covering approximately 0.04 miles, the $900,000 project includes milling and resurfacing, installation of curb and gutter, sidewalk construction and widening, upgraded lighting, traffic signal enhancements, new signage, pavement markings, and traffic loop assemblies.

  • SR 15/US 441 at SE 28th Street: Construction project: Crews will be performing curb ramp replacements and installing sidewalk and curb and gutter. 

    • Turning lane closures will take place along US 441 at SE 28th St during daytime.
    • Motorists should be aware of changing traffic patterns, heavy equipment, and workers present in the construction zone. Use caution when traveling through the area and obey posted signage and flagging operations.

    Estimated remaining duration of activities is 2- 3 weeks.
