About
Grandview Parkway, located south of I-4 near Davenport in Polk County, Florida, is currently
a four-lane divided local roadway from Ernie Caldwell Boulevard to Posner Boulevard. North
of Posner Boulevard, the road narrows to a two-lane divided roadway for approximately
4,400 feet, ending at a dead end about 850 feet south of I-4. This section is designed to allow
future expansion to four lanes through restriping. Grandview Parkway provides access to
Posner Park, Posner Commons, and Posner Village, a collection of retail, restaurant,
entertainment, and service-related businesses east of US 27, as well as to existing and planned
multifamily residential developments.
This project evaluates an extension of Grandview Parkway across I-4 on a proposed bridge
overpass to a new connection at the intersection of Buckingham Drive and Dunson Road.
The goal is to reduce congestion at the US 27 and I-4 interchange by providing an alternative
route for local traffic to cross I-4. It will also improve connectivity for the northeast Polk
County area.
The alternatives evaluated in this study include a No-Build Alternative and a Build
Alternative, which proposes extending Grandview Parkway from north of Posner Boulevard,
over I-4, to Dunson Road. The typical section includes two 12-foot lanes and a six-foot
sidewalk on the west side. The Build Alternative also includes an overpass over I-4.
