About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is beginning the Interstate 75 (I-75) Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study West of I-75 on Immokalee Road (CR 846) to East of I-75 on Immokalee Road (CR 846). The purpose of this project is to evaluate increasing capacity, improve traffic operations, and enhance safety on the mainline, interchange, and ramps. These improvements are a part of the Southwest Connect I-75 South Corridor Master Plan (completed June 2023) which evaluated long term alternatives for I-75 in Lee and Collier counties.
This PD&E study will evaluate both mainline and interchange improvements. To improve traffic, the study will evaluate converting the existing I-75 at Immokalee Road traditional diamond interchange to a high-volume narrower diverging diamond interchange (DDI). A DDI can be smaller and more efficient in size than a traditional diamond interchange as less intersection spacing is required between ramps, typically resulting in less right-of-way acquisition. Specific design features and potential multimodal improvements will be evaluated during the Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study.
Public Involvement
Public outreach is a priority for FDOT. A public hearing is anticipated in spring 2026. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2027.
