PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is designing improvements to Charlie Creek and Charlie Creek Relief (existing Bridge No. 060001 and Bridge No. 060063) in Hardee County. The reconstruction will raise the elevation of northbound lanes to minimize impacts to the public during flooding situations and enhance the structural integrity and incorporate current design standards, along with improving drainage, safety, and provide new signage, striping, and pavement. Proposed improvements also consist of milling and resurfacing of the roadway adhering to the standards set forth in the 2024 FDOT Design Manual (FDM).

  • Perform all design services necessary for the replacement of SR 35 (US 17) NB bridges over Charlie Creek and Charlie Creek Relief;
  • Meet the applicable standards within Hardee County right-of-way;
  • Proactively communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with project stakeholders and the public;
  • Complete permitting required;
  • Maintain resident access to private property;
  • Minimize disruption to traffic flow.
Public Involvement

Stakeholders are an integral part of the FDOT process. A public meeting will be held at an appropriate time to share design plans and meet the project team. FDOT has also created a project website and dedicated community outreach team to serve you throughout this process and answer all of your questions.
