The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is preparing design plans for SR 659 (Combee Road) from US 98 to North Crystal Lake Drive in Polk County.  This project proposes to improve the roadway by enhancing safety and multimodal access through a complete streets renovation. 

The proposed project improvements consist of a complete streets renovation (milling, resurfacing, widening, full construction, and signal upgrades) of 1.393 miles, including adding a two-way left turn lane, sidewalks, closed drainage system with new stormwater ponds, right turn lanes at US 98, Commerce Point Drive, and on North Crystal Lake Drive, driveway access modifications, and new roundabouts at Maine Avenue and Skyview Drive. The proposed roadway will consist of a 3-lane undivided urban roadway with two 12-foot wide travel lanes, a 13-foot two-way left turn lane, and an 8-foot sidewalk on both sides of the roadway. Enhancements, including safer pedestrian crossings, traffic signal enhancements, and lighting, will be evaluated to improve the corridor for all users.
