The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One will be making roadway improvements, including milling and resurfacing, pavement reconstruction, and pavement widening. Other project features include guardrail, drainage, signing, pavement markings, and Intelligent Transportation Systems on SR 35 (US 17) from SR 45 (US 41) to Bermont Road in Charlotte County.

  • SR 35 (US 17) from Tamiami Trail (US 41) to Bermont Road: Construction project: The contractor is working on the shared-use pathway and drainage near Sullivan and has resumed asphalt work at night.

    The right lane will be closed, and the lanes reduced to 10 feet near Nesbitt to allow for drainage pipe removal. Nesbitt will be closed at Olympia with a posted detour in place.

    ·         Motorists should continue to expect the right lane to be closed from Marlympia Way to Elliot Street on Marion Avenue to allow for the construction of the shared-use pathway.

     

    ·         Motorists should continue to expect the right lane to be closed on West Olympia Avenue near Sullivan Street for ongoing drainage work.

     

    ·         Sullivan Street will be closed at West Olympia Avenue, and motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour.

    ·         The right lane will be closed on East Olympia Avenue, and the lanes reduced to 10 feet near Nesbitt Street to allow for drainage pipe removal. Nesbitt Street will be closed at East Olympia Avenue with a posted detour in place.

     

    ·         Truck Detour - Trucks turning onto West Olympia Avenue from SR 45 (US 41) southbound will not be able to turn safely and should utilize the posted detour.

    o   Trucks attempting to turn left onto Olympia Avenue from SR 45 southbound will have to use the posted truck detour. They will need to turn left onto Virginia Avenue, then left onto State Road 45 northbound, and then right onto State Road 35 eastbound.
