This safety improvement project includes adding six-foot wide sidewalk along the east side of US 17/92 with lighting and pedestrian signals at the intersections. Buried pipes will replace ditches for an improved drainage system, and driveway modifications will be made at several driveways to bring them up to current standards. Construction began May 31, 2022 and should be completed by the end of 2022.

Most work is anticipated to occur between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, although nightwork will be necessary around the signalized intersections.  During construction, motorists should expect traffic shifts using the center turn lane to keep from having to close lanes. It will be necessary to close Stuart Avenue at US 17/92 during drainage improvements at that intersection with all Stuart  Avenue traffic detoured to Summit Avenue. Summit Avenue will be closed with traffic detoured to Stuart Avenue for drainage work as well.
