About

This South Florida Avenue safety project includes: 

  • creating a continuous sidewalk on both sides of South Florida Avenue from Carter Road to Fitzgerald Road
  • resurfacing the intersections and adding high visibility crosswalks at Carter Road, Shepherd Road/Shimmering Drive, Christina Boulevard, Ewell Road/CR 540A, Brannen Road and Schoolhouse Road/Fitzgerald Road
  • removing the concrete separator at Fitzgerald Road
  • upgrading signal equipment
  • constructing concrete bus pads at bus stops

Construction began in June 2021 and is expected to be completed in early 2022 at a cost of approximately $3 million. Lane closures are only allowed at night/overnight between 8 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. although daytime work off the roadway is allowed.

There are no more public meetings planned for this project.
