About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a safety improvement project in early 2026 along approximately 1.27 miles of roadway on U.S. 41 (State Road 45) from 63rd Avenue to 53rd Avenue in Manatee County. Improvements will include seven mid-block crosswalks with pedestrian beacons, signing and pavement markings, raised medians, curb and gutter, new ramps, sidewalk, signalization, lighting, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and milling and resurfacing where the new pavement markings will be installed. The estimated project cost is $4.6 million dollars

  • U.S. 41 (SR 45) from 63rd Avenue to 53rd Avenue: Construction project: Crews have begin a safety project on U.S. 41 from 63rd Avenue to 53rd Avenue. The project limits cover approximately 1.27 miles. Crews will install curb and gutter, sidewalk, signalization, lighting, pedestrian beacons at seven new mid-block crosswalks, vehicle detection systems and apply new signing and pavement markings.

    • Motorists can expect southbound and northbound lane closures for concrete placement in and around the following areas from January 20-23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    o   North of Bayshore Gardens Parkway/63rd Avenue East

    o   South of Bayshore Gardens Parkway/63rd Avenue East

    o   In the area of 60th Avenue West.

    • Motorists can expect temporary inside lane closures closest to the medians both northbound and southbound throughout the project limits from January 26 through January 30.
    • Motorists can expect temporary inside lane closures closest to the medians on the southbound lanes throughout the project from February 2 through February 6, and from February 9 through February 13.
    • Starting the week of February 9, motorists can expect the right two northbound lanes on U.S. 41 near the IHOP to be temporarily closed for approximately two weeks as crews complete utility work in the area.
    • Motorists can expect temporary southbound and northbound lane closures on U.S. 41 throughout the project limits.
    • Estimated project completion is late 2026.
