About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin milling and resurfacing US 301(SR 683) from Desoto Road to University Parkway in late 2025. In addition to resurfacing, crews will perform shoulder treatment and apply new signing and pavement markings. The project limits cover approximately .5 miles with an estimated cost of $1.1 million.

This project is one of three projects bundled under a single contract. While individual project schedules will vary, the combined contract begins in late August. FDOT will provide weekly RoadWatch Updates on each project.

  • US 301 from Desoto Road to University Parkway: Construction project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin milling and resurfacing US 301 from Desoto Road to University Parkwayin Sarasota County mid-fall 2025. In addition to resurfacing, crews will perform shoulder treatment and apply new signing and pavement markings. The project limits cover approximately .5 miles.

    • Motorists should expect temporary nighttime lane closures within the project limits.
    • Motorists can expect crews to be intermittently working in and around the project limits during the day.
    • In September, Seminole Gulf Railway will repair the railroad crossing at US 301 with temporary daytime lane closures.
      • On US 301 northbound at the University Parkway intersection, the inside left-turn lane will be closed from 6 a.m. on September 8, through 6 p.m. on September 11, 2025.
      • On US 301 southbound at University Parkway, the left-through lane will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on September 8 and September 9, 2025.
      • On University Parkway at the US 301 intersection, the inside left-turn lane will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on September 8 and September 9, 2025.
    • Estimated project completion is mid- 2026.
