About
State Road 45 from south of Bay Dr to south of 63rd Ave W is an urban highway with a 6-lane undivided roadway located south of Bradenton in Manatee County. The existing facility has a two-way left-turn lane and sidewalks on both sides. The posted speed limit within the project area is 45 mph.
This design project seeks to improve the safety and operations of SR 45 (US 41) in Manatee County. The roadway modifications include intersection reconfigurations and the addition of raised medians to the existing two-way left-turn lanes. The raised medians were strategically placed to reduce the number of conflict points, simplify driver decision making, and to reduce the distances that drivers would have to travel in the two-way left-turn lanes while preserving access to side streets and driveways. Additional project elements include resurfacing near the medians, the addition of new pavement markings, signing and traffic signal loops where necessary. All project elements are anticipated to occur within the existing public right-of-way.
This project will be completed at the same time as (known as goes-with) a resurfacing project with the same limits; the financial project identification number (FPID) is 451026-1.
