About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a resurfacing project on U.S. 17/92 from Lake Alfred to Haines City in mid-November 2025.
This project includes:
Milling and resurfacing the existing asphalt pavement
Reconstructing curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards
Resurfacing most side street entrances, select driveway connections, and the U.S. 27 ramp connections to U.S. 17/92
Sidewalk and Pedestrian Impacts
During the construction of new sidewalk curb ramps in Haines City, some sections of sidewalk will be temporarily closed. Pedestrian detours will be clearly marked using lane closure delineators (LCDs) along the roadway.
Ramp Closures and Detours
To complete paving at the U.S. 27 ramp connections, it will be necessary to close one ramp at a time between U.S. 17/92 and U.S. 27.
Motorists on U.S. 17/92 wishing to access U.S. 27 will be detoured to the next median opening, where they can make a U-turn and enter U.S. 27 from the opposite direction.
Motorists on U.S. 27 wanting to access U.S. 17/92 will use the opposite exit ramp and make a U-turn on U.S. 17/92 to continue in their desired direction.
Example: Drivers exiting U.S. 27 to travel east on U.S. 17/92 will be directed to the westbound exit ramp, then make a U-turn to head eastbound.
Work Hours and Lane Closures
Lane and ramp closures are expected nightly between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Please allow extra travel time and use caution when driving through the work zone.
