452356-1: Sumter Boulevard
The I-75 interchange at Sumter Boulevard project includes the installation of signals at both ramp connections. The improvements include signals, controlled pedestrian cross walks, intersection lighting and adding a northbound I-75 free flow on-ramp from southbound Sumter Boulevard. The improvements also provide dual left turn lanes from northbound Sumter Boulevard onto northbound I-75. Sumter Boulevard is an arterial under the jurisdiction of the City of North Port.

I-75 at Toledo Blade Boulevard (exit 179) and Sumter Boulevard (exit 182) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is making improvements to the I-75 at Toledo Blade Boulevard and I-75 at Sumter Boulevard interchanges. Improvements for both interchanges include the installation of signals at both ramp connections, controlled pedestrian crosswalks, intersection lighting, and the addition of northbound I-75 free flow on-ramps from southbound Toledo Blade Boulevard and from southbound Sumter Boulevard. In addition, northbound lanes will be widened to provide two full lanes through the Toledo Blade Boulevard interchange. At the Sumter Boulevard interchange, dual left turn lanes will be added from northbound Sumter Boulevard onto northbound I-75.
The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and unforeseen underground conditions.
During the nighttime/overnight hours of 11 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 to 5 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, motorists should expect full closures of the northbound I-75 on-ramps and off-ramps at both interchanges for crews to re-stripe the lanes. Only one ramp will be closed at a time. Motorists are advised to use extra caution and follow the posted detour routes or find alternative routes.
Sumter Boulevard Interchange:
Crews will be working on installing light pole bases.
Toledo Blade Boulevard Interchange:
Crews will be working on drilled shaft installation and underground utility work.
Lane/ramp closure restrictions:
When necessary, motorists should anticipate lane closures on the I-75 ramps between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. and full ramp closures between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Single lane closures on Sumter Boulevard and Toledo Blade Boulevard can be expected from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as well as 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and double lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. As major closures are added to the schedule, more information will be included in the weekly update.
