The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is proposing improvements along State Road (SR) 45 (US 41/N Cleveland Avenue) from north of SR 78 (Pine Island Road) to Diplomat Parkway in North Fort Myers, Lee County. The purpose of the project is to enhance safety by providing improvements at several intersections including modifying the directional median opening into the Merchant's Crossing shopping plaza, modifying the intersection at Stockton Street to restrict eastbound and westbound through movements, and providing a full signalized intersection at Diplomat Parkway. Additional improvements include installing lighting along the corridor from Pine Island Road to Stockton Street.
