About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One began a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study in January 2014 to evaluate alternatives to widen US 92 (New Tampa Highway) from two to four lanes between County Line Road and Wabash Avenue in Polk County. The PD&E phase of this project ended on November 27, 2017 when the Florida Department of Transportation Office of Environmental Management (OEM) granted Location and Design Concept Acceptance (LDCA).  This project has moved into the design phase of project development.  The roadway design is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2027, and will include pedestrian and bicycle improvements. The right-of-way acquisition and construction phases are not currently funded.
