About

This project has moved into the design phase of project development.  The proposed improvements are currently under evaluation.  A reduced scope of work that will improve mobility in the corridor with less community impacts is being developed. Intersection improvements, operational improvements, and safety improvements are all under consideration moving forward. The right-of-way acquisition and construction phases are not currently funded.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One began a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study in January 2014 to evaluate alternatives to widen US 92 (New Tampa Highway) from two to four lanes between County Line Road and Wabash Avenue in Polk County. The PD&E phase of this project ended on November 27, 2017, when the Florida Department of Transportation Office of Environmental Management (OEM) granted Location and Design Concept Acceptance (LDCA).
