About

The DeSoto Bridge (Bridge #130053) carries US 41 and US 301 over the Manatee River between the cities of Palmetto and Bradenton. The bridge is 40 feet tall over the water and carries four lanes of traffic, two in each direction. It is one of two bridges connecting Bradenton and Palmetto. The other is the Green Bridge located approximately west of the Desoto Bridge. The bridge was built in 1957 and FDOT is evaluating options to replace the bridge.

The purpose of the study is to evaluate replacement options for the DeSoto Bridge located between SR 64 and Haben Boulevard within the Cities of Bradenton and Palmetto in Manatee County. The objective is to evaluate the project’s impact on the social, economic, cultural, natural, and physical environment, to develop the Location and Design Concept of the Project.
