The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing safety improvements and a pedestrian mid-block crossing at SR 45/USB 41 (8th Avenue West) from 11th Street West to 12th Street Drive West.

Public Involvement
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to a public meeting for safety improvements along SR 45/USB 41 (8th AVE W) from 11th ST W to 12TH ST DR W in Manatee County.
The proposed safety improvements include installing intersection improvements and mid-block crossings with pedestrian hybrid beacons. The meeting will provide information about the changes and offer the public the opportunity to express their views on the improvements.
Mid-block crossings with pedestrian hybrid beacons are proposed only at State Road (SR) 45/USB 41 (8th Avenue West) at 11th Street Drive West (FPID 444904-1).
Intersection median modification improvements are proposed at US 41 and Palmetto Canning driveway and along US 19 at 49th Street (Experimental Farm Road), 50th Street (Elena Road), 52nd Street West (Buena Vista Road), Palmetto Point Drive, 61st Street East (Palm View Road), Bayshore Drive, and Ken Hubbard Road. Are these changes already decided on?
These are proposed changes. The purpose of the public meeting (on October 21, 2025) is to gather community feedback and input.
Will all locations be receiving a crosswalk and pedestrian hybrid beacon (PHB)?
Only the SR 45/USB 41 (8th Avenue West) at 11th Street Drive West location is proposed to receive a pedestrian mid-block crossing with a pedestrian hybrid beacon (Project number 444904-1). The other locations listed are proposed changes to the existing median openings. More details and graphics will be shared at the public meeting. Those materials will be posted on this webpage on October 20, 2025 in advance of the meeting.
