This project includes the design of roadway improvements to US 27 from Industrial Canal to W Sagamore Avenue in Clewiston, Florida. The proposed improvements include resurfacing the roadway, select median modifications, and drainage improvements. 

** UPDATE **  

Following the recent public meeting regarding SR 25 / SR 80 (US 27) FROM INDUSTRIAL CANAL TO W SAGAMORE AVE, FPID 447287-1, the Department has carefully evaluated the feedback provided by local residents and public officials.

Our goal has always been to balance the objectives of the original Visioning Study with the current needs of the community. In the spirit of our continued partnership and in direct response to the community's desire for greater accessibility, the Department has decided to remove the proposed medians from the current resurfacing and drainage improvement project.
 
Key points regarding this decision:
•    Listening to the Community: We recognize that the community’s priorities have shifted since the initial study. By removing the medians, we are prioritizing the local preference for unrestricted access at this time.
•    Project Continuity: The vital drainage improvements and road resurfacing will proceed as planned to ensure the infrastructure remains functional and reliable.
•    Future Safety Oversight: While we are moving forward without medians today, the Department remains committed to public safety. We will continue to monitor traffic patterns and operational data and should safety concerns or high-risk patterns emerge in the future. We will re-engage with the community to discuss necessary safety enhancements

We appreciate the community’s active participation in this process. By working together, we ensure that Clewiston’s infrastructure reflects the values and needs of those who use it every day.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to attend a second public information meeting to review the revised design for the U.S. 27 from Industrial Canal to W Sagamore Avenue Design Project in Hendry County, Financial Project Identification (FPID) 447287-1. The new design reflects public comment provided during the December 2025 meeting. The proposed improvements include resurfacing the roadway, adding select median modifications, and drainage improvements. The project team will be available to answer questions.
